The latest joint customer case study details how full integration is helping to eliminate manually intensive processes, sell online and across multiple channels while streamlining inventory management and operations.

In its joint case study released today, their shared customer – New York-based MMS Distribution – details how it is laying the groundwork to grow revenue through a multi-channel sales approach – online and offline – without the additional costs to invest in new technology platforms and additional headcount.

The manufacturing industry has been slower to adapt to digital transformation compared to other sectors. At the same time, manufacturers are also not keeping pace with how their buyers prefer to shop and buy – online and offline. A 2023 Gartner report found that by the end of the year, 80% of business-to-business sales interactions between suppliers and buyers will be in digital channels. The report also found that 44% of millennials (and 33% of all buyers) prefer no sales rep interaction in a B2B purchase setting.

To combat the current state and help set up manufacturers for future sales success, the two brands are sharing the experience of their joint customer MMS Distribution.

“We were operating in a traditional sales sense – wholesale to wholesale or distributor to distributor that was more of a pallet business than a smaller ship,” said Matthew Stern, Chief Sales Officer for MMS Distribution.

The company was using Cin7 Omni for warehouse management, invoicing, and more.

A significant pain point – and sales hurdle – was that all their sales orders were manually managed. Orders were sent via email and then manually added into Cin7 Omni. As a result, the company could see it was missing sales opportunities and increasing the time to sale. Emails would get lost or into spam or simply missed.

It needed a tech stack that could seamlessly integrate and could support retail and direct-to-wholesale sales. It also needed to be a strong foundation for multiple Shopify accounts and Amazon.
